Shallow Convection
My current research focuses on finding and understanding ocean’s imprints on and interaction with shallow convection, which largely remains a parameterized process even in km-scale weather and climate models.
Air-Sea Momentum Flux
My past research investigated the effects of shoaling ocean surface waves on air-sea momentum exchange, which is one of the key variable in coupled atmosphere-ocean models and its parameterization often relies on open-ocean observations.
Storm Surge
Storm surge is arguably one of the well-studied topics in Physical Oceangraphy. My past work further investigated if resolving the shoaling-induced spatial variability in wind stress matters for storm surge modeling.
